June 22, 2010

These past 7 weeks have flown right by. I can't believe how much I have learned in so little time. I just hope I can remember it all for when I am a teacher! Technology is so useful and fun. I hope I can continue learning and staying up to date with the tools that will help me as a teacher.

I feel so much relief now that I am done with this Computer Technology class. (Thanks for all your help and answers to my questions Pam!) All I have left to do is to copy my final powerpoint onto a flash drive. I am thankful for all the assignments we have had to do, I know it will help me as an educator.

In class today we saw different tools of technology to use in our classrooms. I am excited for all the opportunities that technology will help me as a teacher. For my technology tab subject, I want to read about all of them because they are all new to me. I will have to choose which one to do by tonight.

I am excited for the Final Powerpoint. I am doing 4th Grade Health Education and focusing on body systems and their functions. I will most likely do the Jeopardy game Powerpoint, that interests me because my husband and I like to watch that show!

This week has just gone by way too fast! We had a great time in Bear Lake. Playing catch up with homework wasn't too bad. I had to take the Praxis test yesterday and am a little bit bummed because I ran out of time and didn't finish the last 20 questions. I am planning on retaking it in July.

I really like how my PowerPoint turned out with the digital photos that I edited. I am looking forward to doing my final PowerPoint. I have been working on my Internet Safety Tab and am loving all the information that there is out there. My kids have had fun playing some safety games. I really like Microsoft Publisher. It made it really easy to make a brochure. I hope people come to my community awareness night! We'll see how it goes.

June 4, 2010

Let's see. Where to begin? Since class on Wednesday, I haven't been feeling well. I still need to do my Power Point activities and make a Power Point on my before and after pictures that I edited on Picasa. I had a hard time in class because I was a few minutes late and couldn't get a working computer until class was halfway done. I am feeling slightly overwhelmed because it is my oldest sons' 7th birthday today and we are supposed to be going to Bear Lake. My mother in law is bringing her laptop so hopefully I can install the needed programs so I can finish my homework!

I am also thinking about my final project. I think I will do it on the Human Body, or pick a system of the body and do it on that. I loved my Human Anatomy class that I took 9 years ago. I think I could go into nursing, but the schedule of elementary teacher is a lot better for a Mom than a Nurse would be.

I really enjoyed reading all the articles on Digital Photography. After seeing the Document Camera (is that what it is called?) in class, I would love to have one in my classroom. It would minimize confusion for students, and save time for the teacher.

May 26, 2010

I just finished my Kidspiration Tab. It was a lot of fun. The hardest thing for me was just coming up with a topic to do it on. I decided on "Environment" for my main subject. It is something that affects everyone and we should all be concerned about our surroundings! I liked doing the Kidspiration project, it is so easy on the eye when finished.

Looking forward to working with our digital cameras in class today. That is a very gray area for me. I have never edited a photo on the computer. I have cropped a picture using Costco's software and that is about it when it comes to editing. Hopefully I can take it all in and use it to fix up some of my kids' pictures. We'll see! Off to bed now.

May 22, 2010

This week has flown right by for a number of reasons. Our twins turned one, we had our 9 year anniversary, and in between planning and preparing for their party, I managed to squeeze in my homework, cooking and cleaning, helping at Field Day, and somehow stayed somewhat sane!

I am happy I finished my homework before all the hustle and bustle of this week. It was fun to learn a little more about Cambodia. My brother in law is currently serving a mission there so it was an easy choice of country for me!

I am excited to know how many resources there are for teachers. I am not as nervous now knowing there is information at the touch of my mouse! While I was doing my tab for the Pioneer Library, I found myself reading all sorts of information. My favorite (so far) was the Sirs Discoverer. It was so interesting, I just kept clicking away and found out information about the spouses of presidents, articles on science and peer pressure. I am excited to spend more time checking out all the valuable websites on Pioneer Library.

Okay, I am really enjoying this class. I have learned so much this past week! I am working on creating a web page that will help me as a teacher to communicate with my students and with their parents. Here are a few things I have done in the past week and a half:

I read a handful of articles and watched some videos on technology that is being used in classrooms today. I then wrote a 4 page reflection paper on technology!

I finished my All About Me Tab for my web page. It took me MUCH longer than I anticipated and I will need to edit and add things along the way. You are more than welcome to check it out!

I am currently working on my Lesson Plan for Comparing Behaviors: Instinct vs. Learned. I will write more about that next time!
